A rockpool at the bottom of Slieve Donard, Newcastle, Co. Down. Sketched en plein air as a small study and painted large back in the studio. After a day of hiking up Slieve Donard, I was struck by the beautiful clear water and the dappled light flickering through the trees — it resonated with me as a very special place.
